Charles Baron
Charles spent three years in German work campsC harles Baron was born in Paris on July 18, 1926. His parents were arrested during the Vel dHiv round-up (July 16-17, 1942), sent to the Drancy internment camp and deported to Auschwitz. Young Charles was arrested two months later. With the exception of a three month stay at Auschwitz-Birkenau, he spent three years in a variety of German work camps. Sakrau, Klein Mangersdorf, Gross Sarne, Dachau, Landsberg and Kaufering. Monsieur Baron has written many articles, given lectures, accompanied groups to Auschwitz and reviewed books on television and radio. He received numerous medals from the French government including la Légion dHonneur, le Mérite National and les Palmes Académiques.
